2017 ASEAN-Korea Youth Network Workshop
The ESCAP East and North-East Asia (ENEA) Office co-organized and co-hosted the 2017 ASEAN-Korea Youth Network Workshop with the ASEAN-Korea Centre and International Youth Centre from 3-8 July in Incheon and Seoul, Republic of Korea to promote awareness of ASEAN, ASEAN-Korea relations and environmentally sustainable cities.
The Workshop featured visits to the theme-related sites and historical spots, team-building and video-making activities, lectures on ASEAN-Korea relations and initiatives on establishing environmentally sustainable cities in the Republic of Korea and ASEAN. Held under the theme of "Promoting Clean and Green Environment through the Establishment of Environmentally Sustainable Cities," the Workshop was participated by 80 youth leaders from ASEAN members, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. It served as a venue for youth to find multifaceted challenges faced by ASEAN cities in becoming environmentally sustainable, while enhancing mutual understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Korea Program was followed by the Malaysia Program from 8-13 July in Malacca, Putrajaya, and Kuala Lumpur with around 70 student participants from the Republic of Korea and ASEAN.
