The Meeting provided an interactive forum for member States of the Asia-Pacific region to identify good practices and lessons learned as well as develop strategies to dismantle barriers and enhance opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls. Specifically, the Meeting discussed effective means of implementation to address challenges facing rural women and girls, including in relation to land rights, violence against women and girls, healthcare as well as resilience and preparedness to climate change and disaster. The Meeting also agreed upon a set of forward-looking recommendations to advance gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls. The outcomes of the Meeting will feed into the deliberations of the CSW62 to be convened in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018.
