Asia-Pacific Workshop on Developing Tools to Measure Inclusive and Active Population Ageing
27 (pm.) - 28 June 2019, Bangkok

All countries in the Asia-Pacific region are ageing rapidly: the median age has increased in all countries in the region, even in those countries that are considered as having a primarily young population. As a result, many countries in the Asia-Pacific region will be considered as “aged” within the next two decades.

There are challenges and opportunities related to these demographic shifts, which require forward-looking policies to adapt to the new demographic situation and ensure inclusive and active ageing.

Finding statistical tools that measure to which extent countries adapt to population ageing is crucial to support countries in their process of evidence-based policy design.

The workshop will build capacities to create awareness on data availability on inclusive and healthy population ageing and will explore statistical tools to monitor levels and trends in inclusive and active population ageing.
