ESCAP-organized Seminars at the South Asia Economic Summit (SAES X)
The Tenth South Asia Economic Summit (SAES X) will be held in Kathmandu from 14 to 16 November 2017, under the central theme of “Deepening Economic Integration for Inclusive and Sustainable Development in South Asia”. As one of the long-standing partners of the annual Summit, ESCAP South and South-West Asia Office will support the preparation of two seminars during this edition, on the themes of Sustainable Development Goals and Inclusive Growth in South Asia and Trade Facilitation, Transit and Connectivity Issues, respectively.
Launched in 2008, the South Asia Economic Summit is a prominent regional platform for dialogue and debate on economic and development issues facing South Asia, and for advancing the cause of regional integration and cooperation. Each year, the Summit tackles critical issues, develops new insights and generates ideas on policy priorities for consideration of the subregion’s decision makers. It is co-organized by a group of five think tanks based in South Asia that take turns to organize it in one of the SAARC countries.
The SAES X (external link: http://sawtee.org/saes/) is being organized jointly by the Kathmandu-based South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE), the National Planning Commission and the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of Nepal.
