The Second Asian and Pacific Energy Forum opens in Bangkok on 3 April
The Second Asian and Pacific Energy Forum (APEF 2) will be held from 3 to 5 April in Bangkok, with stakeholders set to review regional progress made towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) on achieving universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy.
APEF2 will focus on how the region is addressing energy security challenges through cooperation and policy innovation. It will also assess regional progress made on energy commitments established during the first APEF, held in 2013. Delegates, including, Ministers, senior government officials and business representatives from across the region will discuss the policy options for keeping the region on track towards SDG7, and pushing the envelope in the dialogue on opportunities for global cooperation.
The Forum will engage the private sector and academic organizations through events including a Government-Business Dialogue to discuss the important role of businesses and the value of public-private partnership in achieving SDG7.
It will also provide a platform to discuss the advantages and requirements of connectivity in the context of regional integration as a catalyst for the attainment of SDG7, as well as its benefits for the Countries with Special Needs.
