Abstract

The Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific was adopted by the 72nd Session of the ESCAP as resolution E/ESCAP/RES/72/4.

Current Status of Implementation

Five ESCAP member states (Armenia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China and Islamic Republic of Iran) signed the Framework Agreement. Updated status on ratifying or acceding to the Framework Agreement by ESCAP member states is available here on the website of the Treaty Section of the UN Office of Legal Affairs.

Becoming a Party to the Framework Agreement

Interested ESCAP member States may become Parties to the Framework Agreement by:

  1. Ratification, acceptance or approval for those who signed it already; or
  2. Accession

For details on the procedure to becoming a party, please refer to the UN Treaty Handbook, in particular pages 5 – 10. Model Instruments of full powers, ratification, acceptance, approval or accession, and reservation and declaration can be found in the annexes of the UN Treaty Handbook.
