Abstract

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides an opportunity for Southeast Asia to take action on economic, social and environment dimensions of sustainable development. This paper provides an overview of current progress and implementation gaps along subregional sustainable development priorities.

The paper takes a closer look at the strategic partnership between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to boost the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the subregion by maximizing synergies and jointly addressing implementation challenges and capacity development needs.
